Becoming more competent in the area of research has been the key area.  With each unit, finding information relative to each section was important, and avoiding being redundant.  I learned to be effective in writing, seek to cover all basis, on a more broad spectrum.  There are internal and external factors which impact an organization, therefore, the focus cannot just be on the internal factors.  Researching the organization, predominantly reviewing documents on the companies website presents the organization in the best light.  Researching articles, the online library, etc., indicates a broader scope of the company from an external perspective.  Therefore, I believe I have become more competent in in gathering perspectives, analyzing, evaluating them and then reporting on them.  Reporting includes the social issues, safety issues, and employee issues that may not necessarily be indicated on their website.  Balancing of information is important, because the instinct is to report good information and ignore the negative.  But, I learned during this process to report both and provide an analysis which shows the company remains progressive, in tact, financially viable and socially responsive.  Senior management and leadership continues to provide a culture conducive to growth and development is important, along with various issues which effect the company’s bottom line and its employees — all of these issues are important to report.
